As business owners, parents, partners and more, to say we have a lot going is a huge understatement. Add up spring break, business trips and an illness and what have is a recipe for super busy – no let’s call that crazy busy.
And when we finally look up we realize that 25% of 2010 has just flown by. Then we look down and realize that the 10 pounds we gained during the holidays is still there, perhaps joined by a little more.
We all know that being leaner makes us look good, feel good and is definitely good for our bodies and our minds. But, will you be successful this time? Yes, and you can do it today.
First we need to know where we are. A great way to do this and minimize becoming a ‘scalemonger’ is to take an abdominal measurement right around your belly button.
To just be healthy your goals should be less than 40 inches for me and less than 35 inches for women. There are major health implications above these numbers
5 Things You Can do Today that Will Make an Impact in the Next 30 Days
- Get off the Sauce - eliminate alcohol (all of it) for the next 30 days. From my research the average person is taking in 10 drinks a week or so, equating to an extra 980 empty calories per week.
- Kill the Tube – Turn off the TV and go to bed 30 minutes earlier each day. This is an extra 3.5 hours each week. Sleep is hugely underrated when it come to helping with fat loss.
- Pack It Up - Take your lunch to work, even better take a double lunch to work, the caveat here is it needs to be homemade, no sandwiches or processed goop.
- Embrace Variety - Buy and try 3 vegetables each week that you’ve never tried before. This will get variety and creativity into what can because very dull, bland and boring if you allow yourself to get into the steamed broccoli rut.
- Walking Doesn’t Count – You and I both know that walking is not a workout. This is.
If you stick to these tips for 30 days you will notice a positive change. Right now, I would guess you might be nervous, about ‘life getting in the way’ and how you are going to stick to the 5 items for 30days.
