The Question - Why Can’t You Bring Me More Business?
The Answer - I’m With The Government And I’m Here To Help You.
As we make our monthly calls to members to see if there is anything more we can be doing one common response is, “Sure, bring me more business!” While that comment is usually followed by a chuckle, it is something we take seriously. There’s nothing more that we wish we could do for our members than bring them more business in this crazy economy of ours. And that’s just what we are going to do for you by teaching you how to do business with the goverment!Of course, one of our great benefits is our lobbying effort on behalf of our member businesses. But what about the business of doing business with the governemt? The government is among the largest (if not the largest) purchaser of goods and services in the country. Feel free to post a comment if you know the real numbers on just how much the government purchases, or what government spending is as compared to the GDP or any of those incredibly fun figures which I won’t go into here-I know someone out there knows the answer to that.
So, why not ask some of the experts in the world of government purchasing to talk to our members about how to submit a successful bid for a government contract? Sounded like a perfect Friday Morning Seminar Series to us. On the heels of our widely successful Social Media series comes “Doing Business With The Government.” It starts Friday Sept. 18, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and includes a continental breakfast. Our host is Sundt Construction.
Our guest speakers are lead purchasing agents for ASU, City of Tempe, Maricopa County, the State of Arizona and the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs. They are dying to answer your questions on why you are not getting your share of all of that stimulus money (just kidding speakers.)
Kari Sliva is the VP of Communications and Special Events at the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.
