Lorraine Bergman Named Business Woman of the Year

Lorraine Bergman was named the Business Woman of the Year by the Tempe Chamber of Commerce at the 14^th Annual Women In Business Conference and Trade Show earlier today at the Buttes.

Bergman, President and CEO of Caliente Construction, has led her company to achieve 30- to 60-percent growth in three consecutive years, maintaining revenues and employees by implementing a diversification strategy.

She is a founding member of Advancing Women in Construction and is a graduate of both the Gilbert and Tempe Leadership programs. She helped found the East Valley Branch of Fresh Start, which assists women who have been impacted by a traumatic event or whose lives are in transition.

Bergman said her mission is “to live life to the fullest by continually learning and overcoming challenges with integrity and persistence while making changes in my life that creates a healthy balance with work, family and personal time. I ensure personal growth by surrounding myself with positive influences, remaining optimistic and always seek for ways to improve.”

“We are proud to bestow this honor upon Lorraine,” said Mary Ann Miller, President and CEO of the Tempe Chamber.  “Her hard work and dedication is inspiring, and her commitment to the business community and the Tempe Chamber has made a remarkable impact that we are proud to recognize.”

The other finalists for the award were Angela Leavitt, Director of Marketing at Telesphere and Elaine Ralls, President of Air Marketing

The award was established to recognize an outstanding business woman who has achieved excellence in her field, displayed leadership in the community, served as a positive role model, and is active in programs within the community and Tempe Chamber.

Immediate previous recipients of the award include Angela Creedon in 2008 and Kim Webb in 2007.
