Why We Are Using Social Media - And Why You Should Too.

As part of our mission to provide the most powerful and effective tools to help our members grow and thrive, particularly in a challenging economy, we’ve chosen to firmly embrace the social media movement. And teach our members how to do the same.
Social media describes the online technologies and practices that people use to share information, opinions, insights, experiences and perspectives. It is quickly redefining how we relate to each other, businesses, corporate entities, government and, increasingly, overall society in general.
Consider how President Obama used it in his campaign to great effect. His volunteer grassroots movement looked more like a grass fire, spreading and growing disproportionately to its first flicker. Even as print newspapers are folding across the country, CNN and MSNBC are incorporating social media right into their broadcasts with I-reporters, twitter feeds and texted input from viewers right on the television screen.
The growth and success of companies - including those in the Tempe Chamber – will soon depend more and more on the integration of social media tools with an overall business plan.
Realizing the enormous benefit it can and will have upon our members, we have engaged in a comprehensive strategy to incorporate social media into our communications and to educate our membership on how to use these tools to thrive economically. Our first free educational event is on April 9th at 4:00pm at Monti’s La Casa Vieja click here to sign up.
This new social media initiative underscores what we’ve said all along: Your success is our business. Our adaptability in embracing cutting edge technologies and our responsiveness to the needs of our membership continues to reinforce the value of being a Chamber member.
