The glamour! The glitz! The “bling”!
Hollywood came to Tempe on Monday and the event was a smashing success. Congratulations to Harkins Theaters and Tempe Marketplace for hosting the World Premiere of X-Men Origins-Wolverine. Thousands showed up to catch a glimpse of their favorite star. And another of our members, Paradise Bakery, provided complimentary fresh muffins, bagels and coffee to fans all day courtesy of Hugh Jackman himself! He actually called the store himself—pretty cool, huh?
Jackman, the actor who played Wolverine in the film, made a grand entrance on his motorcycle before the cast signed autographs and walked the red carpet lined with hundreds of fans. Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman designated a “Wolverine Only Parking” sign for the cast.

Thank you to all Chamber volunteers who answered the call and helped distribute 3,000 Wolverine “claws” to the fans to promote opening day this Friday, May 1. You are all superstars to us! Earlier this month, the marketing staff at Harkins did a full-court press on publicity and the community responded by voting online to win the contest and bring the premiere to Tempe. This was such a fun event and a great opportunity to promote Tempe-way to go!
Do you have a fun story or close encounter to share from Monday? We’d love to hear it!
